Emphasize your impact as much as job functions. Having duties, scope and staff are the basics. Show what sets you apart from other candidates by highlighting the impact you have had. Companies want to hire people who can make improvements and help with the bottom line. Do this with each job if possible, show you are a consistent performer. Did you create a process that was rolled out companywide. Have an idea and worked with IT to develop a software enhancement. Develop training or ways to improve say safety. Serve on a very select steering committee for the company. Lead a software implementation or evaluation. Develop driver scorecards. Increase staff productivity or service levels. Lead projects. Increase hiring while decreasing ad budget. I had a phone screen yesterday and found the candidates’ most exciting and interesting things were not on the resume.
